Digital Badge #A - Chapter 1

Chapter 1 concepts reflected upon:

1.) Computers are a vital part of today's world. Digital technologies such as the computer are used for so many things, that they are taken for granted. Teens use technology so much, that it accounts for every minute outside of school. Technology such as computers can be used in the classroom and be up to par with the latest features. This will not only motivate young minds, but will help them learn at their rate. Technology is being outdated at intense speeds, and it is a teachers responsibility to make sure the latest and greatest is their for the students.

2.) Everything needs to be technology based, from the office to the textbook. Teachers need to to be aware of the newest technology and also have it close at hand. This is critical to help teach students. Being able to give out lessons through text, blog, or other technological ways helps ensure that students are getting the information they need the easiest way possible. With technology always close, a teacher can easily get in contact with a student. An important message may need to be delivered to the students that was not mentioned in class. Using technology, a simple text can solve any possible confusion.

3.) Social media is another important tool in today' technology based world. Perhaps an assignment could be to find a certain news event. Using social media such as twitter may be the fastest way to find an event which could be used to share with the class, possibly even before it hits the news! Another way social media will help in the classroom is to have a web based program such as Facebook used to link the class together. Therefore, students can actively engage with one another for tips and other information. Perhaps even help each other with assignments. Using tools such as YouTube would also be a good way to present information to students.

Technology must be up to date in the class using multiple technological tools. This helps to engage students and keep them feeling that technology is not being ignored in the classroom. This also gives students the idea that school is important and that school will continue to evolve with the continuing changes to technology. Technology must be in all areas of the classroom and outside of class. This help with communication between student and teacher. Social media is another great tool that helps students learn using fun tools they are likely already using!
